Jen finds the stories are so hard to believe. The story continues with Gracie’s recovery, where she starts telling her mother about strange things she has seen and heard. Jen and Matt’s friendship also goes on even after leaving the hospital, and the two start spending more time together. After a while, Gracie recovers and is discharged from the hospital. While Gracie is in the hospital, Jen meets Doctor Matt, and they become friends. Like any other woman, she has never liked Ella, and this incident makes the hate even more. Jen’s emotions are still fresh from her husband, her child’s father, after leaving them to start another family. Needing someone to blame, she puts all the blame on her ex-husband’s girlfriend, Ella, since she was the one driving the car. Worried for her daughter, Jen gets to the hospital as fast as she can to find Gracie lying on the bed, and she is informed that he was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, but miraculously, she revived. The book begins with Jen getting a phone call that every parent is scared of her three–year–old daughter Gracie has been admitted to the hospital.
